Understanding draw systems
Every state allocates tags differently — the system determines whether points guarantee a tag, improve your odds, or don't exist at all.
Bonus Point Hybrid
Points increase your chances but don't guarantee a tag. Multiple phases combine preference and random elements.
Pure Random
No points system. Everyone has equal odds regardless of how long they've been applying.
Pure Preference Points
Highest point holders draw first. Your points guarantee you'll draw before anyone with fewer points.
Bonus + Preference Hybrid
Utah uses bonus points for limited-entry/OIL and preference points for selected hunt categories.
Preference/Random Split
A percentage goes to preference point holders, the rest is pure random giving everyone a chance.
Squared Bonus Points
Your entries equal (points)² + 1. Exponential advantage for high-point holders.
